In the last few days I have been climbing in Kaldakinn with Magdalena Nowak and Mike Reid. We climbed the following routes:

Mr. FreezeIn general, there is pretty decent ice here. Let’s hope we don’t lose too much in the upcoming warm spell.
We checked on Ólafsfjarðarmúli and some routes were looking good but others were pretty thin.
Climbed Hlæjandi Fýlar WI4 today in Kaldakinn
There is already quite a bit of ice there. All of the routes in the Trenches(Rennurnar) look climbable, a few in Dramb (Pride) and various routes here and there.
Then others still need more time like Stekkjastaur for example.

Klifraði Single malt og appelsín í dag með Magdalenu. Mest megnis flottur ís en slepptum fyrsta og fjórða haftinu. Ennþá nokkuð um vatn sem rennur bak við ísinn.
Lítið mál að sneiða hjá höftunum sem eru ekki alveg tilbúin. Crúx spönnin í single malt on the rocks er heldur ekki alveg tilbúin, vantar ennþá aðeins upp á að hann nái vel saman. Mjög blautur líka.
Annars bara flottur hetjuís í efri spönnunum á single malt og appelsín og síðasta spönnin í mjög fínum aðstæðum.
Went on a scouting mission today.
Started in Eilífsdalur. Looks like Einfarinn could be in but it’s hard to say how thick the ice is. Þilið looks like it’s missing the first pitch but the upper pitches look better.
Brynjudalur doesn’t have much ice although the upper part of Orion looks like its getting there. The main pitch of Ýringur is getting there but the lower pitches are all missing.
Múlafjall looks like some of the lines could be climbable but the ice is still a bit thin.
Spori in kjós was looking promising.

Fór Single Malt on the rocks í Bröttubrekku í gær. Mjög fínar aðstæður. Fullt af ís og lítill snjór.
Good snow conditions for alpine climbing on the Northeast ridge on Skessuhorn yesterday. Lots of very good firm snow. Unfortunately we weren’t able to complete the route due to high winds and white out.
Hopefully some of this snow will survive the rain.
Fór með Bjarnheiði á þorláksmessu í tvíburagil. Þar var eitthvað af is en þó ansi þunnt og blautt. Ekki nógu þykkt til að taka skrúfur svo við klifruðum ekki.
Við erum 4 félagar sem erum mjög líklegir til að koma. Erum búnir að tala við bóndann og tryggja okkur gistipláss. Við erum allir byrjendur í þessu, höfum tekið nokkur toprope session en ekkert meira en það. Erum samt allir mjög áhugasamir um þetta og viljum læra sem mest. Ég er að spá hvort að einhverjir af ykkur reynsluboltunum séuð tilbúnir að sýna okkur nokkrar auðveldar leiðir og hvar er best að komast að til að setja upp top rope og slíkt.
